We have been on the road since March 21, 2017 and are grateful everyday for this beautiful country that we live in. From the diversity of the people, to the diversity of the landscape, WOW what a place to live!
Many of you know but, David's Mom passed away on April 26th while he was in Atlanta. Sharla had strongly encouraged him to come to Atlanta and because of her insistence, he arrived the day before his Mom's 90th birthday. He saw her that evening, but she did not awaken on her birthday. He was disappointed that she slipped so fast, but greatful that she did not suffer through an extended illness. She is waiting for us in heaven with the angels singing and praising God.
Paula's Dad passed July 10th, 2019. Paula has fortunate to have been in Louisville KY when he passed. We appreciate your prayers as our family changes. Gene is survivied by Paula, her two brother Gary and Steve, and her sister Sandra, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grand children. Austin (a grand child) was pregnant, and has since delivered another great grand child!
The winter of 2018 was the coldest since 1982 so we are giving Tombstone one more chance to prove to be a "mild winter". The winter of 2019 started earlier (November). Things started to heat up in January and went on to have high temperatures in the 90's in early May. In June we went to Atlanta and built a deck for David's Dad. Not just any deck mind you, but over 700 square feet on two levels separated by two steps. His dad has since completed the "approach" by replacing the sidewalk and creating a patio. Help on this project came from David Hemphill and David's sister Sharla who lives with, and provides constant care for, his Dad.
We have added a Tombstone section to the website. We did purchase what is refered to as "period correct" clothing and David acquired a 45 caliber old west reproduction to complete the appearance. Everyone at Tombstone that we worked with had some form of beard/goatee, and David is sporting one now.
The picture below was from a side-by-side trip we made up China Peak (about 14 miles from where we live in the Dragoon Mountains).
